I Would Like To Start A Small Retail Gift Shop Out Of My Home. Any Advice Or Laws I Should Know?

It would be a small shop out in my porch. A craft or custom paintings .
I am a little leary because of all the laws and would like to hear from someone who has this type of shop.
I am in South Dakota.
I know about sales tax lic. ,etc.
Any feedback will help me make up my mind.

    Check into local zoning restrictions as it may be illegal to open a retail shop in a residential area.Good luck.
