Money Conversion Online Shopping – Ordering Online From America To Uk?

4 July 2009 98 views 3 Comments

I want to order something online from an American website, and the item is in dollars. If I ordered it using my debit card, (with British currency) would it automatically convert it? Would it work or would I need to go through another process?

Nationwide Building Society credit cards do not charge a fee for foreign currency transactions and even use a very fair conversion rate. I think most others charge a fee though the actual currency conversion is automatic on every card I have ever used.
Don’t forget if you are buying goods that will be shipped from America that you may have to pay high carriage costs and there may be duty to pay when it comes though UK customs.

yes it does and it may charge a fee. also the shipping cost from america to the UK is expensive like $20-$50 which is like £10-£25
aswell you need to pay taxes and other sorts when the goods get delivered through your house.

It will convert.. You might have to pay a fee for the bank to convert the currency.. Look at Yahoo Finance / Currency to see the latest exchange rate.
