What Do You Think Of Online Shopping?

Have you purchased an item from a merchant over the Internet? Describe the item, the merchant, and the method of payment. Would you use the Internet to make another purchase? Explain why or why not.

    I am a doll collector and I live in Thailand. And here, we don’t have a lot of collectible, one of a kind, rare, wanted dolls… a lot of them are imported from China and most of the time, they are very poor quality. Doll collecting is a bigger hobby in the US, and that is where most sellers are from. Ebay is my solution. Most sellers are very friendly, I ask questions about items on sale all the time and I believe they try to reply me as soon as they see it. They all strive for 100% positive feedback. Since I am an international buyer/bidder, sometimes when the seller put in their description they will only ship within the US, it takes time to work things out for both sides. Sometimes, they won’t do it. Once I had someone who I found on the internet who lives in America buy an item for me, then ship to me. I had to pay the item’s cost, shipping to their location, shipping to me, and service charge. It is harder for me at times.
    Bidding on Ebay or other online shopping sites, you face disappointment when someone else win the item you want. But you also learn from it I think. If I really, really want an item that ends at 5pm US, I would wake up at 4:30am and monitor it. Sometimes I don’t even win and that is super frustrating! My method of payment is PayPal, I think it is easy and safe, I have never had a problem with it. PayPal is also what most seller prefer. I will certainly make another purchase, since I can’t get what I want in my country even though it takes a lot of time and effort.
    When I win/buy an item and it is time to make the payment my mom would sit with me and type her credit card information down, but of course she doesn’t pay for me. I would give her my money (originally comes from her, but anyway I had to keep all of it until I have enough). I am not at the age to be ebaying, I’m 13, and seriously doing this made me more mature.

    Yes, I have purchased quite a few things online. Ebay, JC Penney, Amazon are some of the sites that I shop at. I use my credit card to make purchases. It’s the safest option. I feel safe while shopping online as I use a toolbar called Billeo to pay my bills. It is VeriSign secured and TRUSTe certified, so all my info is safe. Security is always the main concern when one shops online.

    i use paypal when it is available, and on most websites just enter my credit card info. i enjoy shopping on the internet because the item comes to my mail box and i don’t have to go to a store.
