What Is The Best Way To Put Up A Window Self-cling Decal In A Shop Window Without Bubbles?

3 September 2009 99 views 4 Comments

We’re about to launch a campaign in 400 stores and shop managers are not experienced in putting large self-cling decals in windows. What’s the best and easiest way to do this? The decals are 500mm x 500mm and 1000mm x 1000mm. Thank you!

First of all window must be clean ..
Secondly you will need a damp cloth ..
Position the decal onto the required area and using the damp cloth put into place .
The damp cloth will remove crease and bubbles and enable a smooth finish ..
Also ensure that window is cleaned after as there will be splashes ..
Also if placed in a window with direct sunlight they can curl depending on the thickness and can be difficult to reposition if thin so if they are place them out of direct sunlight ..

You can talk to your visual merchandising manager to help with this.
Use a straight-edge to make sure the decal will be level. On glass, use an eraseable(not permanent) marker to mark the line( you can remove this after you place the signage). On the center-point of your placement, put the middle of the sign on that point. Moving outward to the ends, press the signage out with a dry cloth, the heel of your hand or a dry sponge, as you go. This will press out the bubbles to the end and seal the signage as you go. Remember, work your way from the center of the sign outward. It it much the same as applying wallpaper.

I’ve no experience with this size/type, but I’ve always used a spray bottle with a *little* bit of dish liquid and a lot of water. Spray it on the window so the decal can be moved if necessary, then squeegee it out from the centre.
I’ve done vinyl decals on car windows and bumpers, and was surprisingly successful on window tinting, but they are more permanent than you’ll probably be using.

Wet the glass with water and washing up liquid. Place the centre of the decal in the required spot and then, using a wet cloth, smooth out the rest of the decal from the centre outwards. I find this usually works.
